ICT: Newwave in English language learning/teaching
This
research analyze the development of using ICT in language learning and teaching.
These technologies include computers, the Internet, broadcasting technologies
(radio and television), and telephony. In recent years there has been a
groundswell of interest in how computers and the Internet can best be harnessed
to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of education at all levels and in
both formal and non-formal settings.
The
researchers propose that using ICT gives the learners real-life contact with,
and exposure to, the cultures of the peoples and countries where the new
language is spoken and enables children to access and research information worldwide.
It also helps English language learners by enabling them to communicate, edit,
annotate and arrange text quickly and flexibly. ICT can be used to integrate speaking, listening, reading and
writing. It enhances interactive teaching and learning styles.
In conclusion, using ICT to support English language
learners pose challenges for teachers of how to exploit new and emerging such technologies.
We as language teachers should consider new strategies in teaching but ICT
without correct strategies cannot help us in classroom.
